Agnes M. Treahy Flynn

Batticaloa is the provincial capital of the eastern province of Sri Lanka. It became part of the British Empire in 1815 and was called Ceylon.

Agnes M. Treahy Flynn was born on April 11, 1867 in Batticaola, Ceylon. She was the daughter of John Bartholomew Treahy and Sarah Healy.

According to the 1940 census, she attended school through 9th grade.

She married her cousin William J. Flynn about 1904.

Agnes and William had two children. William T. Flynn was born on July 5, 1905 and Francis O. Flynn  on April 4, 1908.

In 1910 they were living in Los Angeles and William was a metal worker.

In the 1917 San Diego Directory he was a sheet metal worker at W. A. Diebert.

At the time of the 1920 census, they were living in San Diego. The household consisted of William age 62 who was an iron worker, Agnes, age 50, who was a servant in a private home, William, Jr. age 14, and Francis age 11.

William died in 1922 and was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In 1930 Agnes was living at 2541 Broadway. The household consisted of Agnes M. age 60, William T. age 24 who was a druggist, and Francis O. age 21 who was a truck driver.

In 1940 she was a lodger in a boarding house at 218 Cedar Street in San Diego.

Agnes died on September 29, 1956 in San Diego.

William died on February 6, 1966 and Francis died on July 20, 1970.
